If you are like a lot of clients, then at some point you will begin to wonder if having lash extensions over the years can damage your natural eyelashes? This is both false and true. No. If applied correctly eyelash extensions will not ruin your natural lashes. Your lashes cycle out and shed almost like getting acrylic nails.

Sassy Lashes has repeat clients that have been getting their lashes done for years without any damage done to the natural lash. If a client has a weaker frail natural eyelash that wouldn’t normally handle a 0.18 mm diameter classic lash extension, then we would use a 0.03 mega volume lash to give a nice fluffy natural looking base.

Our lash technicians are trained to assess every client on a person by person basis and make the determination what size diameter of lash extension to use. Sassy Lashes understands that lashing is not a 1 size fits all situation for every client.

Now on the opposite side of the spectrum, a bad lash job can absolutely damage your natural lashes and cause them to fall out and become too weak for lash extensions. If a lash artist uses too much glue, then the natural lashes can become glued together and create a hard painful pocket that will pull the extensions out because they cannot be combed through with a mascara wand. Also, using too heavy of a diameter and too long of a length of lash can also cause the lash extensions to twist up and eventually fall out since it cannot handle the size of the lash extension.

Just remember that one of the bigger myths out there is that lash extensions ruin your natural lashes. The truth is they do not. If applied safely and properly, they do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Make sure not to tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even make a gap in the skin between your natural lashes.
